Senators Silence Pirates

The Senators threw a two hitter at the Pirates, giving up only one run in a 10-1 victory Thursday night.  The Pirates run came in the fifth inning.  Jackson Nave singled.  Dustin Stover reached on a fielders choice, Jackson out at second.  Dustin advanced to second on John Denney's walk and stole third.  Dustin scored on Bobby Blair's sacrifice fly.

The Senators never trailed, scoring three in the top of the first on a hit batter, a double and a single; two in the third on only one hit; two in the fourth; and three more in the seventh.

Chris Gregory had a single for the Pirates (their first) in the fourth.    In addition to John's walk in the fifth, Leo Brown walked twice and Juan Ortiz, Jackson and David Stierle also walked.

The Pirates meet the Colonels Sunday afternoon at 4:30 at Memorial.
