Grays Rebound in Game Two Re-match

Smarting from a Game One melt down, the Grays had to wait only two days to get well.

It took the home-standing Grays three innings to get started, but when they got started, they almost didn't stop.  With the score 0-0, John Denny and Rich Mills led off the inning with a pair of singles.  They were joined on the bases by Charlie Gabriel who walked.  David Stierle advanced the runners ninety feet driving in John with a single.  John Garcia, Jose Cubero and Mark Ferguson kept things going with RBI singles.  Dustin Stover grounded into a fielder's choice which produced the fifth run.  Bobby Blair added a single.  After the second out John D. had his second single of the inning and Rich Mills reached for the second time on a walk.  After three, the Grays led 8-0.

In the fourth after David walked, John G. reached on a fielder's choice and then moved to second on Jose's single.  Mark Ferguson then doubled down the left field line drving in both John and Jose for a 10-0 lead which the Grays carried into the fifth.

In the fifth, Chris Gregory walked and advanced to second on a ground out.  With two outs, Charlie Gabriel scored Chris with a single and went to second on a single by David and scored the twelfth run on John G.'s long single for a 12-0 run rule win.

The key defensive stand came in the top of the fourth.  After an error by David at short and John G. in left put runners on first and second with no outs, a hard ground ball to Bobby at third resulted in a 5 unassisted-3 double play,  A popup to Rich at second ended the threat.  The only other time the Senators managed to put two runners on was in the first.  After the lead-off man popped out to Jose in front of the mound, a walk and a wild pitch put a runner on second.  Jose walked his second (and last) batter after a fly out to Chris in center.  Another wild pitch (also Jose's last) put two in scoring position but a strike out ended the inning.  A second inning two out double was the only other runner to reach second.

Jose threw a three hit, five inning, complete game shut-out.

The Grays improved to 1-1.
